EndoLab Laboratory

The EndoLab Laboratory is an independent, interdisciplinary research team that is part of the Department of Endocrinology of the Centre of Postgraduate Medical Education (CMKP). It was established on June 28, 2023 by decision of the CMKP Scientific Council and by the Ordinance (83/2023) of the CMKP Director dated July 11, 2023. The scientific and didactic profile of the EndoLab Laboratory involves endocrinology, neuroendocrinology, hypertensiology and metabolic diseases. The main scientific interests focus on research on steroidomics, metabolomics, proteomics, molecular biology and artificial intelligence in the clinical diagnostics of adrenal tumors.

Educational activities

Lectures on specialization courses, advanced courses and training courses organized by the Centre of Postgraduate Medical Education, Warsaw Medical University, College of Laboratory Medicine in Poland for doctors (including endocrinologists, diabetologists, internists, angiologists, vascular surgeons) and laboratory diagnosticians (numerous courses in laboratory medicine in endocrinology, diabetology, hypertension, metabolic disorders and problems in the determination and interpretation of laboratory tests in clinical diagnostics).

Scientific activities

Main research areas:

  • diagnostics of adrenal diseases (steroidomics, proteomics, metabolomics, molecular biology and artificial intelligence in the diagnosis of adrenal tumors);
  • neuroendocrinology (search and clinical evaluation of new biomarkers in the diagnosis of endo- and neuroendocrine tumors);
  • investigation of the pathomechanism of cardio-metabolic disorders in the course of hormonally active adrenal tumors (Cushing’s syndrome / MACS, primary hyperaldosteronism, pheochromocytoma);
  • genetics of PPGLs;
  • proteomics and metabolomics in the diagnosis of primary hyperaldosteronism;
  • proteomics and metabolomics in the diagnosis of prostate cancer, metabolic diseases (diabetes, lipid disorders, obesity) and neuroendocrine tumors (gastrointestinal tract, thyroid, pheochromocytoma, paraganglioma)
  • the use of new diagnostic tools (including LC-MS/MS, GC/MS, SEC) in the diagnosis and monitoring of endocrine diseases;
  • participation in many international research projects ENS@T (European Network for the Study of Adrenal Tumors)

Structure of the EndoLab Laboratory

  • Immunology Laboratory,
  • Mass Spectrometry Laboratory,
  • Biobank

Immunology Laboratory

  • Determination of hormone / protein / peptide / metabolite concentrations in body fluids (blood, urine, saliva) using immunochemical techniques (RIA, IRMA, EIA, ELISA, CLIA).
  • Determination of antibody levels in body fluids (blood, urine) using immunochemical techniques (RIA, IRMA, EIA, ELISA, CLIA).
  • Isolation of proteins/peptides/hormones from body fluids (blood, urine, saliva, dried blood spot – DBS, etc.).

Mass Spectrometry Laboratory

  • Determination of concentration/excretion (24h urine collection) of hormones, hormone metabolites, peptides and other small molecules in various body fluids (serum/plasma/saliva/urine) using LC-MS/MS technology.

Biobank

  • Biobanking of biological material (blood, urine, saliva) as part of the implementation of scientific projects / grants of the EndoLab Laboratory of the Centre of Postgraduate Medical Education (CMKP).
