School of Public Health

The School of Public Health provides specialized education for physicians and dentists, focusing on key aspects of public health. One of its primary tasks is organizing courses for physicians of all specialties in areas such as public health, medical law, medical certification, as well as disease prevention and health promotion.

The School is accredited to conduct specialization programs in public health for physicians, making it one of the leading institutions in this field. Since 1971, tens of thousands of participants, mainly physicians, have attended its training programs, gaining expertise in social medicine, healthcare organization, and public health. With its extensive experience and a highly qualified team of experts, the School of Public Health is among the top institutions training professionals for Poland’s healthcare system.

In the face of dynamic demographic and epidemiological changes, the role of public health and the need for specialized personnel training have become even more crucial. Leveraging its rich experience and expert resources, the School of Public Health is a natural partner for governmental institutions in implementing the National Health Program, particularly in areas such as: monitoring and assessing the health status of the population and related quality of life, identifying and analyzing the prevalence of health risk factors, investigating the causes of health inequalities stemming from socio-economic conditions, initiating and conducting scientific research.

The School of Public Health fulfills its mission through its specialized departments:

Department of Health Economics, Management and Statistics

Educational activities

The School of Public Health at the Center for Postgraduate Medical Education (CMKP) has long played a key role in postgraduate training for physicians and other healthcare professionals, continuously adapting its educational programs to the evolving needs of the Polish healthcare system.

One of the School’s significant achievements is its involvement in large-scale systemic projects funded by the European Union, aimed at supporting the education of physicians in deficit and priority specialties essential for the Polish healthcare system. Notably, the School participated in the systemic project „Training in the Specialization Process for Physicians in Deficit Specialties,” which focused on oncology, cardiology, and occupational medicine. This initiative was financed under the Human Capital Operational Program.

Between 2016 and 2024, the School implemented a physician training program as part of the Knowledge Education Development Operational Program, co-financed by the European Social Fund. This program targeted physicians specializing in modular training in fields identified as crucial from an epidemiological and demographic perspective, such as clinical oncology, radiation oncology, oncological surgery, pathomorphology, hematology, geriatrics, orthopedics and traumatology, medical rehabilitation, rheumatology, family medicine, pediatrics, emergency medicine, and palliative medicine.

As of January 1, 2024, the School of Public Health continues its efforts by actively participating in the „Supporting Postgraduate Medical Training in Key Specialties for Poland’s Epidemiological and Demographic Needs (FERS1)” project. This initiative is funded under the European Funds for Social Development 2021–2027 and aims to further strengthen physicians’ competencies in key areas of public health and healthcare system sustainability.

Given the dynamic demographic and epidemiological shifts, the training of medical personnel has become more critical than ever. The School of Public Health at CMKP, with its highly qualified faculty and extensive experience, plays a strategic role in educating medical professionals who are essential for the effective functioning of Poland’s healthcare system.

Scientific activities

The School of Public Health at the Center for Postgraduate Medical Education (CMKP) conducts scientific research focused on key challenges in public health, epidemiology, quality of life, healthcare organization, and health policy. With an interdisciplinary team of experts, extensive research experience, and collaboration with national and international scientific institutions, the School plays a significant role in monitoring and analyzing the health status of the population and shaping health policy in Poland.

As a partner to governmental institutions, the School of Public Health plays a crucial role in implementing the statutory tasks of the National Health Program. Research conducted by the School’s faculty is applied in monitoring and assessing public health status, analyzing quality of life, identifying health risks, and developing strategies to reduce health inequalities.

Through its research across various areas of public health and its close collaboration with policymakers, the School provides reliable analyses that support the development of health policy in Poland. Its scientific activities have a tangible impact on improving the quality of healthcare and public health outcomes.
